The GABP site is also present in HIV-1 subtype E. Promoter organizations of several viral and cellular genes with binding sites for Ets factors are shown. The GABP site identified in this study is identical in sequence to the motif present in HIV-1 subtype E. Arrows over the GABP, Ets-1, and Elf-1 motifs indicate the 5′-to-3′ direction of the GGA core recognition sequence. See text for further details.
