Analysis of vertex proteins in the viral particles. 293 (non-fiber-expressing) or 211B (fiber-expressing) cells were infected with Ad5.βgal.wt (wt) or Ad5.βgal.ΔF (ΔF), and the resulting viral particles were purified on CsCl gradients; 10 μg of purified virions was then electrophoresed on 5 to 16% gradient gels and Western blotted. Proteins were detected with polyclonal antifiber or anti-penton base antibodies.
