Survival outcomes of vaccinated rats after aerosol challenge with Ft demonstrated minimal differences between substrains. Fischer 344 rats were vaccinated as indicated. Six weeks after vaccination, rats were challenged by aerosol either with a high or low dose of Ft SchuS4. Survival was monitored for 21 days. The experiment included a total of 5 animals per vaccine-challenge dose group per substrain. For each challenge dose, bacterial lung deposition was monitored. The figure depicts time to death. Analyses of survival outcomes, calculated by Kaplan–Meier and log-rank (Mantel–Cox), indicated that differences between rat substrains were not significant. Whitin each challenge dose group, pairwise comparisons of LVS and ΔclpB by rat substrain showed no significant differences.
