A total of 49,230 participants with T2D from 16 cohorts and of multiple ancestries were included in this study: 31,118 (63.2%) of European, 11,124 (22.6%) of African American, 4,325 (8.8%) of Hispanic/Latino, and 2,663 (5.4%) of East Asian ancestry. The total incident CVD event rate was 18.2% with those of African ancestry having the highest event rate of 25.6%.
