For each genotype, the top panel illustrates the response to a suprathreshold current step (blue trace) superimposed on a hyperpolarizing response to a negative current step (red trace); the middle panel shows the applied current steps; and the bottom panel shows the waveform of a single action potential evoked at rheobase, at an expanded time scale. Note the narrow spike and high steady-state firing frequency of the X94 neuron; the rebound burst and high input resistance of the Chrna2 cell; and the low firing frequency and wider spike of the Calb2 cell. The Pdyn subset displayed a mix of the X94 and Chrna2 firing patterns.
