Ongoing clinical trials are assessing the interest of metformin and stem cells as candidate therapeutic strategies for AAA. Clinical trials analysing the effectiveness of statins, antihypertensive drugs, doxycycline, anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic therapies and other drugs with anti-inflammatory activity failed to evidence a benefit on AAA progression.
