(A) depicts a volcano plot, wherein each spot indicates a gene and its log2-fold change vs. log10-adjusted p-value. Light blue dots indicate genes that were significantly downregulated. Red dots indicate genes that were significantly upregulated. Gray dots indicate all other genes. (B) is a heatmap representation of selected differentially expressed genes of interest (a total of 14 genes). The log2-normalized counts were standardized to have a zero mean and standard unit variance for each gene. The expression profile is accompanied by a color bar indicating the standardized log2-normalized counts. It is important to note that two of the genes of interest had low counts but are still included here.
