Purified RNPs were treated with RNase A as described in Materials and Methods. The pretreated RNPs were then incubated with ³⁵S-labeled M1 proteins, and the percentage of average RNP association was quantified by comparison to the total input ³⁵S-M1 proteins. The data show results of a representative binding experiment; the standard deviation of three independent experimental points was below 10% (data not shown).
