Naive BALB/c female mice were injected i.p. with PBS or 105 PFU of tissue culture-derived MCMV and were challenged i.p. with 5 × 105 PFU of salivary gland-derived K181 at 4 weeks postimmunization. Spleens and salivary glands were harvested at days 6 and 10, respectively, postchallenge.
