As crop and rotation were partially crossed (i.e., not all combinations present), a new variable, Cr.Rt, was created to represent combinations of the two factors in the model. The random effect was specified as a nested structure, random = ~1 | Site/Mainplot/Subplot/Year. p values were derived from Wald Chi-square tests
