Above is a neighbour-joining tree constructed using a core genome alignment. V. splendidus sensu stricto, containing a V. splendidus reference strain, is collapsed, and represents 96 isolates. Eleven of the publicly accessible genomes identified as V. splendidus species on NCBI that do not fall within V. splendidus sensu stricto are more similar to V. splendidus -like reference genomes. Similarly, three genomes isolated in Ireland – 16075, 16 040 and 16 042 seen in blue – are not found within the V. splendidus sensu stricto clade and are likely V. splendidus -like species.
