Fig. 3 — Application of organoids in cancer research. Organoid technology combined with CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing allows the impact of genetic changes on disease development to be studied. Organoid biobanks can be used for drug screening and validation. Patient-derived tumor organoids co-culture with immune cells mimics the mechanism of immunotherapy efficiency and drug resistance. In addition, tumor organoid models may become a tool for personalized medicine validation to optimize treatment selection.
