An additional enticement to adopting 2021 CKD-EPI formula is the reduced patient load. Determined from 44,360 participants of the 2001-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey weighted to represent the adult US population (adapted from data presented in reference [18]).  CKD staging and treatment corresponds to the 2012 Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Clinical Practice Guideline for the Evaluation and Management of CKD [2]. CKD defined as eGFR<60 mL/min/1.73m² or urine albumin-creatinine ratio>30 mg/g without the chronicity requirement.
