Quercetin reduced the colocalization of internalized claudin-4 with endosome markers induced by DON. IPEC-J2 cells were incubated in the presence of DON (2 μM) for 24 h with or without pretreatment of quercetin (40 μM) for 2 h. Cells were then double-labeled for claudin-4 and markers for early (EEA1) and late endosomes (Rab7). Internalized claudin-4 induced by DON colocalizes with EEA1 and Rab7 (arrowheads).
