Definition of abbreviations: %max = percentage maximum; EMGgg = genioglossus activity; SD = standard deviation.

Reduction in EMGgg was regressed against the reduction in drive, the reduction in pressure, and the drive-versus-pressure contribution (βdrivepressure, transformed). Independent variables were 1-SD standardized and to facilitate comparisons. Reduction in EMGgg, drive, and pressure were all calculated at nadir ventilation. Model R2 = 0.32 (left) and 0.43 (right).
