History of past illness including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, stroke, atrial fibrillation, etc.; mechanical ventilation on the first day of ICU: only descriptive statistics, no comparison of differences between the two groups because of that SAP was defined as the new symptoms of pulmonary infection in stroke patients who were not mechanically ventilated within 7 days of onset. IQR, inter-quartile ranges; SD, standard deviation; BMI, body mass index; MAP, mean arterial pressure; GCS, Glasgow coma Scale; NIFSS, National Institute of Health stroke scale; ICU, intensive care unit; WBC, white blood cell count; CRP, C-reactive protein; PCT, procalcitonin; OASIS, Oxford Acute Severity of Illness Score.
