Band contrast, orientation map (inverse pole figure—IPF), phase map (red = α, blue = β phase) and vanadium map of the (a) CM-Ti6Al4V and (b) SLM Ti6Al4V. A fine microstructure of equiaxed grains with β phase distributed as isolated islands along the boundaries of α phase, matching with a higher vanadium concentration was observed on (a) CM-H6A14V; while (b) SLM-H6A14V had a needle-like microstructure, characteristic for α′ martensite, with a homogeneous distribution of its alloying elements here represented by the vanadium map.
