Risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus

1. Overweight or obesity (body mass index ≥23 kg/m2)
2. Abdominal obesity (waist circumference ≥90 cm in men, ≥85 cm in women)
3. Diabetes in 1st relatives (parents or siblings)
4. History of prediabetes
5. History of gestational diabetes or delivering a baby weighing 4 kg or more
6. Hypertension (blood pressure ≥140/90 mm Hg or on medication)
7. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol <35 mg/dL or triglycerides ≥250 mg/dL
8. Insulin resistance syndrome (polycystic ovary syndrome, acanthosis nigricans, etc.)
9. Cardiovascular disease (stroke, coronary artery disease, etc.)
10. Medication (glucocorticoids, atypical antipsychotics, etc.)
