Various cells regulate the development of fibrosis. The process of fibrosis is accompanied by a variety of cellular changes. The formation of myofibroblasts is a central part of fibrosis. Cells such as fibroblasts, hepatic stellate cells and endothelial cells can be transformed into myofibroblasts and participate in the development of fibrosis. In addition, immune cells such as migrating infiltrating macrophages and T cells play a role in regulating fibrosis. Cellular senescence induced by ionizing radiation also plays an important role in fibrosis. (Figure was created with https://www.Biorender.com)
