^aWhole blood diluted 1:1 in RPMI 1640 was incubated for 16 h with HKSP (amount equivalent to 10⁷ CFU/ml) in the presence or absence of erythromycin (10⁻⁵ to 10⁻³ M) and/or anti-TNF MAb (10 μg/ml). IL-6 levels are means ± SEs for six volunteers.
