Mice maintained on a zinc deficient diet (SZ) and subjected to a one time HDE exposure did not exhibit significant differences when compared to normal zinc sufficient diet (NZ) mice in (A) BAL cellular influx including (B) macrophages and neutrophils (data pooled from two experiments with 13 mice per treatment group). In contrast, SZ mice did have a significant increase in cytokine, chemokine, and amphiregulin production (C-F) when compared to mice maintained on a normal zinc diet (NZ).
