Microtitre plate reader data showing the fluorescence increase of the fluorogenic β-gal assay at several distinct magnesium concentrations. The slope of fluorescence increase was negatively correlated with magnesium concentration. This allowed for a low-conductivity assay mixture conducive to pDEP cell capture.
