Forest degradation is defined as a state of anthropogenically induced arrested succession, where ecological processes that underlie forest dynamics are diminished or severely constrained22. The map was generated by comparing potential distribution and current land cover (see methods for details) using the software QGIS version 3.20.0-Odense (https://qgis.org/en/site/).
