All assays were performed at 23°C. The reaction mixture contained a superoxide-generating system (xanthine oxidase, xanthine, and horse heart cytochrome c). See Materials and Methods for details. Where indicated, bovine SOD (30 U), NADPH (0.3 mM), SOR, NROR, and/or Rd from P. furiosus (each 170 nM) were added.
