Traditional digital diagnostics (a) requires patients to physically visit their physician and the diagnostic laboratory premises and go back home to wait for the results and instructions for follow-up when necessary. In the case of digital diagnostics (b), patients are provided with the right online tools to determine if a test is necessary. When necessary, a request is placed online, the sample can be taken at home and sent to the lab, and the results can be received at home, for example, through a patient portal.
