Scores for each variable are added (or subtracted as designated) to calculate the final predictive score. Scores > 19.9 suggest severe disease and are correlated with poor outcome. Because predictions can be inaccurate when applied to individual dogs, they should be used cautiously as a guide for therapeutic decision‐making but should not be used to discourage owners from pursuing treatment.
