Confounders included sex, housing tenure, maternal education, maternal depressive symptoms, parents' alcohol use, conduct problems at age 4 years, being bullied from age of 12 to 16 years, cannabis and cigarette use at age 16 years, and depressive symptoms at age 16 years.

All analyses for the linear slope adjust for the latent intercept (at age 18 years).
