Analysis of structured data. The same data reported in Figure 1 were analyzed as structured data, i.e., hypothetical indicators that measure multicellular interactions and tend to reveal distinct patterns (here identified as two- or three-letter acronyms expressed in italics). Both the whole dataset and day-1 observations, when analyzed in three-dimensional space, expressed two data inflections that distinguished three groups of observations (‘A’,'B’, and ‘C’). ECMO/MV-related cases were clustered within the ‘C’ group (A-D).
