The oxidative bromination of thiolsa.

The solution of thiol (0.50 mmol), Ni(OTf)2 (0.05 mmol), DMSO (1.75 mmol) and HBr (33% in AcOH, 0.75 mmol) in anhydrous DCM (2.0 mL) was heated at 40 °C for 12 h. Isolated yield.

DMSO (2.3 mmol) and HBr (33% in AcOH, 1 mmol) was added.

HBr (48% aqueous solution) in EtOAc (2.0 mL) was used.
