High-irradiance blue or red light exposure affected the TXNRD1, AKR1C3 and SOD1 expression levels and altered the ROS production level and mitochondrial density in HaCaT cells. Western blot analysis showed a significant upregulation of TXNRD1 and AKR1C3 expression levels after high-irradiance blue light exposure (* = p < 0.05 and ** = p < 0.01, respectively). SOD1 increased its level of expression after exposure to high-irradiance blue or red light (** = p < 0.01 and * = p < 0.05, respectively) (A).
