*All Criteria require exclusion of other endocrinopathies
1990 National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)9 (Both criteria needed for diagnosis)
 1. Hyperandrogenism and/or hyperandrogenemia
 2. Oligo-anovulation
2003 Rotterdam Criteria10 (Minimum of 2 of 3 criteria needed for diagnosis)
 1. Clinical or biochemical hyperandrogenism
 2. Oligo-anovulation
 3. Polycystic ovaries
2006 Androgen Excess- Polycystic ovary syndrome Society Criteria (AE-PCOS)11 (Both criteria needed for diagnosis)
 1. Hyperandrogenism (Clinical and/or biochemical)
 2. Ovarian dysfunction (oligo-anovulation and/or polycystic ovaries)
