Recombination assays were performed at 37°C as described in Materials and Methods. Relative recombination proficiency is determined as the recombination frequency divided by that of SK707 (uvrD+). Data represent the average of three independent experiments. The viabilities of all of the strains tested were identical within the experimental error.
