Dear Editor,

The article ‘ChatGPT in the field of scientific publication-Are we ready for it?’[1] by Thondebhavi et al. stated that large language models (LLMs) are game changers. However, ensuring that the appropriate ideals of transparency, integrity and truth prevails, is vital. Concerns about how LLMs might affect research ethics and quality are legitimate ones.[1,2] LLMs can help with content creation but cannot replace human analysis and critical thought. Researchers who use these models must be careful and accept responsibility for their findings and recommendations. The word “Artificial intelligence” (AI) refers to computational software that uses freely accessible data from dependable or questionable sources to generate predictions. The potential bias in the data used to train LLMs, which can have significant ramifications for the quality and reliability of the generated material, is one problem. Specific views may be overrepresented in the data used to train LLMs, which could affect the model's content. This may result in inconsistent and inaccurate research findings and recommendations. LLMs can help with content creation; however, they may not always result in higher-quality writing. AI should not be used to create, update or approve sensitive content without human oversight.[2] It is critical to analyse how AI will affect ethics carefully. Never forget that whether or not artificial intelligence is used successfully and responsibly is determined by people, not technology.
