ZWF, glucose-6-P dehydrogenase; TAL, transaldolase; TKT, transketolase; PGL, phosphogluconolactonase; GNK, gluconate kinase; GND, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase; PPI, pentose phosphate isomerase; PPE, pentose phosphate epimerase.
Cultures were grown on complete synthetic medium containing 1% glycerol, 0.4% ethanol, and 10 mM δ-gluconolactone to the log phase. The cells were harvested, washed and inoculated into complete synthetic medium containing 1% glycerol, 0.4% ethanol, and 10 mM δ-gluconolactone. Enzymes were assayed in the cell extracts, and enzyme activity has been expressed in milliunits per milligram of protein.
