Effects of MinC mutations on cell viability in the presence of MinD. pCS104CD (PBAD::minCD) (CD) and derivatives of this plasmid containing minC mutations were transformed into JS964 (Δmin). Colonies appearing on plates with spectinomycin and 0.2% of glucose were resuspended in 300 μl of LB medium and serially diluted (10-fold steps). A 4-μl sample of each dilution was spotted on plates with spectinomycin and different concentrations of arabinose (as indicated at the top) and incubated at 37°C overnight.
