Hormonal dysregulation within the male reproductive system of individuals dealing with obesity. Two mechanisms can result in an impaired hormonal profile due to obesity. The first one corresponds to the conversion of testosterone into 17β-estradiol in the adipose tissue due to higher aromatase activity. This creates a negative loop in the HPG axis, decreasing neurohormones expression. The second one is the decrease in testosterone serum levels due to lack of neurohormones expression, decreasing steroidogenesis stimulation by the Leydig cells.
