Criteria for an Acceptable Donor in Living Donor Liver Transplantation.

  • Volunteer donor who is related/emotionally attached to the recipient, understands the potential risks of undergoing hepatectomy, and will be compliant with follow-up

  • Age range 18–55 years

  • No known medical disease that would increase perioperative risk

  • No risk of disease transmission from donor to recipient

  • ABO compatible except in exceptional circumstances

  • An adequate partial liver graft can be safely harvested
