Folate uptake in the renal brush border membrane vesicles (BBMV) and basolateral membrane vesicles (BLMV). Uptake of [³H]folic acid (0.5 μM) was measured in a buffer of pH 5.5 across the BBMV and in a buffer of pH 6.0 across the BLMV (100 mM NaCl, 80 mM mannitol, 10 mM HEPES, 10 mM 2-morpholinoethanesulfonic acid, pH 5.5, 6.0) for 30 s.
