GPC repressed the PHO84 promoter. Cells expressing GFP under the control of the PHO84 promoter (JKC1659) were pregrown in YPD with an additional 10 mM Pi overnight. Cells were then inoculated at an OD600 = 0.01 into media without Pi with indicated Pi or GPC concentrations. The fluorescent signal and A600 were followed over 18 hours.
