Laminarin reduces hepatic lipid deposition in HFD-fed mice. C57BL/6J mice were fed either a ND or a HFD for 14 weeks, and then, the mice were gavaged as indicated once a day for 8 weeks. Liver tissue samples from the treated mice were collected, stained, and applied for H&E staining. Hepatic TC, TG, and TBA were measured. (A) Representative images of livers (upper panels) and the corresponding H&E-stained liver sections (lower panels, original magnification at 200×; Scale bar-100 μm). (B,C) Quantitative analysis of hepatic lipid accumulation, including TC (B) and TG (C) levels (μmol/g tissue, n = 12). (D). Concentration of hepatic TBA (μM, n = 12). The data in the bar graph are expressed as mean ± SD, significant differences compared with the HFD-Control mice are indicated as * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001, **** p < 0.0001, n.s., no significance.
