The mean serum galectin-3 levels of HD patients were significantly higher than those of healthy controls (p < 0.001). (B) Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis of the prediction of mortality by serum galectin-3 levels. At a cut-off value of 37.0 ng/mL of serum galectin-3, the AUC for predicting mortality was 0.718 with sensitivity and specificity of 60.2% and 74.7%, respectively.
