Mitochondrial dysfunction in fatty liver. In fatty liver, stressed and damaged mitochondria cause greater oxidative stress and less energy production. New therapeutics that restore mitochondrial function could be a promising way to treat metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
