FIG. 1. — Outbreak F is an example of concordance between PFGE band cluster analysis in BioNumerics software, using dendrogram-type UPGMA and band-based Dice analysis, and rep-PCR, using a DiversiLab system. Both the BioNumerics (A) and rep-PCR (B) dendrograms show that five of the six oxacillin (methicillin)-resistant isolates clustered into two groups, one with three isolates (SA28, SA32, and SA33) and one with two (SA29 and SA31); the sixth isolate is an outlier (SA27) that is not related to the other isolates tested. The gel-like image generated by the DiversiLab software illustrates band similarities.
