Effect of MK-801, a glutamate receptor antagonist, on the rat brain temperature. Saline or MK-801 (3 mg/kg, i.p.) was injected into three rat groups (n = 4 per group) at the time indicated by the thin arrow. Two groups were injected with 100 ng of epsilon-toxin per kg at the time indicated by the thick arrow. The brain temperature was monitored as described in Materials and Methods. Symbols: ○, saline- and epsilon-toxin-injected group; •, MK-801- and epsilon-toxin-injected group; ▵, MK-801-injected group. Values represent means ± SEM.
