Shown is the figure of 4 position of the operative extremity with the knee flexed and the foot placed onto the contralateral extremity. The assistant maintains this position to allow a varus moment arm onto the lateral joint space as the arthroscope is situated in the lateral joint space to view the lateral compartment.
