Lipid composition of the brain and alterations in lipid levels in the AD brain. (A) Lipid composition of the brain. The brain is a lipid‐rich organ, and at least 50% of the brain dry weight is lipids. In the brain, lipids comprise 50% phospholipids, below 40% glycolipids, 10% cholesterol and CEs, and traces of triacylglycerol. The figure was created based on reference [2].
