Effects of pioglitazone (A) and TZDs # 7a (B), 7b (C) 7c (D), 7d (E), 14 (F), 19 (G), 21 (H), 23 (I), and 29 (J) on insulin secretion by βTC6 cells in the absence (basal) and presence of 2.8 mM glucose. Drug concentrations of 10–12–10–6 M were used. The results are means of triplicates ± SEM; *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, and ***P < 0.001 from relative basal control and #P < 0.05, ##P < 0.01, and ###P < 0.001 from glucose at 2.8 mM.
