Kinetics of growth and clearance of LVS in naïve BALB/c mice. BALB/c mice were inoculated i.n. with approximately 200 CFU of LVS. Four mice were killed every 5 days to determine the bacterial burdens in the indicated organs. The horizontal dashed line represents the level of detection for the assay, and when the number of bacteria fell below this level, a value of 200 CFU was used to calculate the mean.
