PI3K inhibitor blocks Acanthamoeba-induced HBMEC apoptosis. To precisely determine the role of PI3K in Acanthamoeba-mediated HBMEC death, apoptosis-specific ELISAs were performed in the presence various concentrations of LY294002, a selective PI3K inhibitor, as described in Materials and Methods. LY294002 inhibits Acanthamoeba-induced apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner. The error bars indicate standard deviations.
