Distribution of IGF proteins in ascites and the circulation. Ratios ([Ascites]/[Circulation]) are based on measurements in 107 patients with ovarian cancer. For IGF bioactivity, intact IGFBP-4, CT- and NT-IGFBP-4, ratios are based on measurements in 20 patients. Ratio > 1 reflects a higher ascites level, and ratio < 1 reflects a higher level in the circulation. The horizontal line shows the level at which ascites = plasma. Ratios are median (25th percentile; 75th percentile) on a log scale. Differences between compartments were significant for all proteins.
